The Laurel Wreath for Websites! |
What sets truly great websites apart?
The ancient Greeks used the foliage of the laurel to crown victors in the Pythian Games and as a mark of distinction for certain offices. In later times a crown of laurels was used for academic honors. the expression "to look to one's laurels" is a derivative of this and means "to be careful that one's position or rank is not lost". Similarly "to win laurels" means "to secure fame as a result of some significant accomplishment".
With this in mind, we developed "The Great Divider Award" and The All Directions Gold Treasure Site:-

We know that it isn't sufficient to just have a website. Just as we know that you have"to be careful that one's position or rank is not lost"
A truly successful website needs to flow. This takes Content, Commitment, Courtesy and Contribution (OUR four "Cs").
- Content in the sense of physical content, graphics, language and color scheme.
- Commitment in the sense of hard work, promotion and maintenance.
- Courtesy implies ease of navigation, no broken links, load speed, good spelling and syntax.
- Contribution - an honest desire to make attractive and useful information available to the Internet community without forcing it down their throats.
In the same vein, we have burned the midnight oil at the keyboard and know that recognition for one's efforts helps the endless pursuit for the great website. We also understand that in the Internet community there are different levels of skills and different budgets. We are looking for sites that show the passion of the Webmaster.
If you feel your site is worthy of a laurel, submit your site, (or any other site that you feel is good enough). The site will be carefully reviewed by one of our staff. If your website is chosen to receive The Great Divider Award or the The All Directions Gold Treasure Site Award, you will be notified by E-mail within 1-2 weeks with instructions on how to place your award on your site . Please do not bother to submit sites that are under construction or have broken links.
Please take a few seconds to fill out our form and let us know what divides your site from the rest.
